Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show 2010

December 20th, 2010

As sheep producers, the Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show is part of our annual calendar of must-do events. This year, we weren’t just entrants but sponsored the Supreme Poll Dorset exhibit with a feeder as the prize and the Dorper broadribbon and trophy.

Tattykeel Stud took out the Poll Dorset broadribbon and Dell Dorpers took the Dorper prize. And, of course, Adrian managed to get his ugly mug in the Stock&Land so the day was a huge success!

Elmore Field Days 2010

December 20th, 2010

We spent a great few days at Elmore this year, showing our feeders in action as part of the Dorper tent and the “Guess the weight of the ram” competition. Heaps of people in attendance again made Elmore a great day out!

SlideAway‘s motto is “Feeders made by Farmers” because, as farmers, we believe a hay feeder should be strong, durable and sensibly priced. And it must have a roof! Our feeders are made out galvanised steel and to a sensible, solid design with no special components– just clever engineering.  We know the difficulties in feeding hay; stock stand on it, they pull it out, soil it or it just gets wet. There weren’t (and still aren’t) any other feeders on the market that addressed these problems so I built my own, based on an earlier design of my father’s.   SlideAway are the original muzzle-feeding hay feeder, designed to eliminate these and other problems via their unique muzzle-feeding sliding-gate design with a fully welded frame  (meaning fewer tech screws) ,base,  skirt plus walls and a large roof . The feeders are already assembled so you don’t have to waste time putting them together. They’re built to last and save time, energy and hay… which saves you money!

SlideAway Hay Feeders is part of a family farm, running 2000 Merino ewes, wethers and lambs and 200 crossbred lambs in conjunction with a small permaculture farm with stud Dexter cattle, house cows, Large Black pigs, Cashmere goats, Finnsheep, East Friesian milking sheep and chickens. As such, all our feeders and houses have been extensively tested on our own animals and reworked until their function is as near to perfect as we can get it. Located midway between Bendigo and Ballarat in central Victoria, we source our components locally  and  employ local people.  We can also incorporate delivery into most quotes.

Our range consists of many different feeders to suit any type or number of bales (small, 8x4x3, 8x4x4, 5×4, 5×5 and 6×4) or we can build one to suit your requirements and we have recently branched out into building animal shelters as well.
